Cat Casino, Deathstars Email Interview 8/19/09 I originally met Cat Casino, guitarist of Deathstars, in October 2007 during my first trip to Helsinki while he was filling in on guitar for Gemini Five at the first Mama Trash show at Gloria. Cat is not only a very talented musician, but an interesting individual! I have many fond memories every time I am around him due to his great sense of humor and his love of life! If you haven't heard their latest CD, Night Electric Night yet, pick it up today! Great band, awesome CD! ~mt mt: How would you describe Deathstars music to someone that is not familiar with it? Cat: Our music is a mirror of our souls, with a touch of extravagant vocabulary to make it interesting. The music itself is the spice to the meat. Dark hot salsa. mt: How would you describe your relationship with each member in the band with one word?
Whiplasher: Mother mt: If you could put the ultimate tour together, who would you like to tour with? Cat: Our tour together with KoRn a while ago was the best tour so far. Loads of people every day.Even seeing people in the front row crying for real was huge. Might be a bit weird, but that makes me get off. Supporting Queen in the late 70's is of course something that would make me happy in many ways. mt: Give me FIVE facts about you. Cat: I'm a cat used to dogs, I hate licorice, I can't eat regular breakfast, I hate doin' nothin', I am never satisfied and I am constantly searching for food! mt: What is your best habit? Worst trait? Cat: Being humble is something I am really ashamed of... mt: How does it make you feel when you hear your music playing randomly in public? Cat: We'll, coming down to my local bar hearing our music is a bit of my everyday life. Makes me feel a little bit more satisfied with what we have accomplished. It did not come from nowhere. We worked and toured our asses off to make this happen. Sacrificed our regular lives to make music and finally it's payin' off. I wouldn't say it makes me happy and anyway, who wants to be happylicious?
August 2008 in Sweden mt: Whether you are on the road on tour, on vacation or at home what is the first thing you must do before you go to bed/when you awake? Cat: Well to be honest I hate everything about going to bed and getting up. Sleeping away one third of my life is not something I enjoy, but usually I try to guide myself into what I wanna dream about. *mt footnote: I do the same thing with my dreams! Makes it so much more interesting! mt: Any plans for US Tour this year? General plans for 2010? Cat: We released our album this may which we are very proud of. Now it's waiting and seeing what'll happen. As for now our music will be featured in a cool video game. As for touring we have not made any real plans yet. But we definitely REALLY wanna go on tour in the US SOOOON! mt: If you could meet any one person dead or alive who would it be and why? Cat: I'd like to meet myself in 40 years to see if I'm a bum or not. I'd ask myself about what I should have done differently. mt: Message for your fans? Cat: Stay alive and most importantly stay in the Death Glam downwards spiral. We will keep you happy!
