Mama Trash Bio
Music has always been a huge part of my life. When I was a teenager my brother was a drummer in a band called Freakshow. They were a huge success in the tri-state area for over eight years and through them I was exposed to a lot of different bands and styles of music. At the same time, I also started meeting famous musicians through him and other friends. Those friends lead to new friends, so you get the idea! Back in 2003 I decided to bring the bands I enjoyed closer to the fans by starting a website called experiencemetal.com and I have never looked back.
Now what about this nickname, Mama Trash? The UK fans of one of my first bands, Trashlight Vision nicknamed me Mama Trash due to my maternal nature over the band in 2004 and the name (or persona!) took on a life of its own! In 2005, I met Jyrki 69 of The 69 Eyes while in London with Trashlight Vision. Jyrki not only introduced me to The 69 Eyes music, but to a whole new world of music! This led to the creation of 69eyes.us in 2005 and in January 2006 I took it to the next level by creating and running my own promotions company, JGS Promotions, Incorporated, offering services to musicians all over the world! In 2008, I changed the name legally to Mama Trash Promotions, Incorporated.
In Spring 2008 I held my first Trash Fest for Mama Trash Family Artists in Helsinki, Finland, the heart of all things Mama Trash. The most recent, Trash Fest II, March 19-21 gave artists the opportunity to perform in front of a combined 1,100 people from over 16 countries! I have plans to bring Trash Fest to the US in the Fall of 2009 and back to Helsinki for the annual festival next Spring. ~mt
